The specs, rules and money details for publishing AI-made series on OddCinema. Last updated November 5, 2026.

On this page

Overview

OddCinema is a home for serialized AI filmmaking. Viewers follow a story from episode to episode, and you can charge coins for later episodes.

AI tools change how a film gets made, not what you’re responsible for. Every rule here applies the same way whether a person filmed it, a model generated it, or you did a bit of both. “The AI made it” is never an exception.

These docs explain how we apply our Terms of Service. If the two ever disagree, the Terms win. Nothing here is legal advice.

Quickstart

  1. Choose Become a creator in Account.
  2. Create a series in Content. Add a title, description, genres, cover and poster.
  3. Add an episode and upload your file. It stays a draft while it processes.
  4. Choose which episode locks start from, and set your prices.
  5. Press Publish now or schedule a time. Work lists anything that still needs finishing.

Numbering: only unpublished episodes can be moved. Published episodes keep their number so viewers’ progress and purchases stay correct. Episode numbers run across the whole series, not per season.

Best practices

These are suggestions, not rules.

  • Lock your characters. Reuse reference sheets for each face, costume and voice. A lead who changes between shots loses people fast.
  • Keep a series bible. Save style prompts, seeds and locations so episode 10 still looks like episode 1.
  • Cut around weak shots. Hands, lip sync and long takes show the seams first. Regenerate or cut away.
  • Treat sound as half the film. Steady voices, room tone and music hold different generations together.
  • Write the season before you generate. It saves credits and gives your first locked episode a moment worth paying for.
  • Check your drop-off. Your series page in Studio shows the average share of each episode people watched.

Child safety

Zero tolerance

Sexual content involving anyone under 18, or anyone who looks under 18, is banned. It doesn’t matter that the character is fictional, animated or AI-generated. We remove it, close the account, withhold earnings, and report it to the authorities where the law requires, including organizations such as NCMEC.

What counts

  • Sexual acts involving a minor, shown, implied or described.
  • Nudity or partial nudity of a minor in a sexual or suggestive way.
  • Sexualized posing, clothing, camera focus or dialogue about a minor.
  • Romantic or sexual storylines between an adult and a minor.
  • Grooming or abuse shown as appealing, normal or deserved.
  • Characters with childlike bodies, faces, voices or behavior in any sexual context.
  • A real child’s face or voice placed in sexual content, or any AI edit of a real child’s image that makes it sexual.
  • Titles, descriptions, thumbnails or tags that suggest any of the above.

What doesn’t get you out of it

ClaimHow we treat it
“She’s actually 500 years old.”A stated age doesn’t count if the character looks or acts like a child.
“It’s only anime or a cartoon.”The style makes no difference.
“No real child was involved.”Synthetic content is treated the same as real content.
“The model made it that way.”You chose to publish it. Check every frame.
“The prompt said adult.”We judge what’s on screen, not the prompt.

What’s fine

  • Child characters in non-sexual stories, such as family, adventure and comedy.
  • Stories that deal with abuse as a subject, with no sexual depiction at all. If we’re in doubt, we remove it.

Keep adult characters clearly adult when a story involves romance. If you find this content anywhere on OddCinema, use the Report button and choose Harm to a child.

Sexual content

OddCinema is open to viewers from age 13, and pornography isn’t allowed.

AllowedNot allowed
Romance, kissing and adult relationshipsExplicit sex acts, shown or clearly described
Intimacy that’s implied or cuts awayVisible genitals, or nudity meant to arouse
Swimwear or everyday clothing in a natural settingFetish content, or framing built around sexualized bodies
Stories that deal with sexual violence without showing itSexual violence shown on screen or made appealing

Thumbnails and posters get a stricter reading, because people see them before they choose to watch.

Faces and voices

The test

Could a viewer recognize a specific real person from the face, voice, name or overall look? If yes, you need that person’s permission. Your intent doesn’t change this.

Faces and voices you can’t copy

WhoExamplesRule
Public figuresActors, musicians, athletes, politicians, influencers, streamersNeeds their permission, even if they’re famous and even in a flattering role.
Private peopleFriends, exes, classmates, coworkers, people from social mediaNeeds their permission.
Anyone under 18Any real childDon’t use their face or voice unless you’re their guardian. Never in anything sexual or demeaning.
People who have diedLate actors and musiciansRights can outlast a person. Get permission from their estate.

Ways this happens with AI tools

  • Prompting a person’s name, or “looks like” a person.
  • Face swaps, and face or character references made from someone’s photos.
  • Custom models or LoRAs trained on a real person.
  • Voice clones and sound-alike voices.
  • Using someone’s name in a title, description, tag or thumbnail to get clicks.

What’s fine

  • Original characters that don’t resemble anyone specific.
  • Yourself, or people who gave you permission. Get it in writing, and make sure it covers AI use and paid distribution.
  • Long-dead historical figures in clearly fictional or historical stories, as long as it isn’t presented as real footage.

If a tool gives you a face that looks like someone famous by accident, regenerate it. Parody and commentary rules vary by country, so we may still remove a likeness if the person objects.

Never allowed, even with a disclaimer

Showing a real person in sexual content without consent, or making it look like a real person said or did something they didn’t.

IP infringement

You must own or have permission to use everything in your series, including artwork, music and titles. Generating something doesn’t make it yours if it copies someone else’s work.

What counts as infringement

TypeNot allowedDo this instead
CharactersSpider-Man, Goku, Pikachu or anything clearly based on them, even renamedDesign your own
Worlds and storiesFan films, unofficial sequels, new episodes of existing showsBuild an original world
Books and scriptsAdapting a novel, comic, manga or script without the rightsLicense it, or use real public domain work
Footage as inputVideo-to-video or restyling of film, TV, anime or other creators’ workUse footage you shot or own
MusicCommercial songs, AI covers, sound-alikes of an artistOriginal tracks, or music licensed for paid distribution
Logos and brandsStudio logos, or brands used to imply a partnershipInvent your own
Other creatorsReposting or lightly editing someone’s AI seriesPublish your own work

Common myths

MythReality
“It’s AI, so there’s no copyright issue.”The output can still infringe an existing work.
“I gave credit.”Credit isn’t permission.
“I changed the name and colors.”It still infringes if it’s recognizably the same character.
“I’m not charging for it.”Free episodes can infringe too.
“It’s fair use.”That’s for a court to decide, and we can’t rule on it. We may remove it after a valid claim.

What’s usually fine

  • Genres, tropes and general ideas, such as a heist, a chosen one or a haunted house.
  • A broad visual style, as long as the result doesn’t copy specific characters or scenes.
  • Public domain works. Check the exact version, because a newer adaptation or translation can still be protected.

Our licence to your work is non-exclusive and you keep ownership, so you can publish the same series elsewhere. If someone copies you, see Takedowns.

AI tool licences

When you upload, you confirm you have the rights you need. That includes the tools you used.

  • Check every tool. Image, video, voice, music and upscaling tools each have their own terms.
  • Check your plan. Commercial use can depend on your plan, and free plans often have different terms.
  • Check the date. Save a copy of the terms that applied when you generated the work.
  • Check custom models. A LoRA or voice model has its own licence and training data.
  • Keep records. Save prompts, project files and receipts. They help if your work is disputed.

Laws on AI-generated work are still changing and differ by country, including whether AI output can be protected at all. Ask a lawyer about anything important.

Violence, hate and harassment

TopicAllowedNot allowed
ViolenceFictional action, war, horror and crimeReal violence, or gore that exists only to shock
Dangerous actsDanger as part of a storyInstructions people could follow to hurt themselves or others
Self-harmCareful stories about the subjectShowing it as appealing, or showing how to do it
HateVillains and stories that examine prejudicePromoting hatred of people for who they are
HarassmentClearly fictional conflictTargeting, threatening or humiliating a real person

Deception and spam

  • Fake reality: don’t present generated video as real news, real events or real footage. Documentary and biography series need extra care.
  • Misleading listings: titles, thumbnails and genres must match the series.
  • Mass uploads: don’t flood the catalog with duplicates or near-identical episodes.
  • Manipulation: don’t fake views, ratings, follows or unlocks, including with your own accounts. Earnings from this can be withheld.

Pricing and locks

Each series has one lock point. Episodes from that number onward cost coins, and earlier ones stay free. You can also leave a whole series free.

  • New episodes start at 50 coins. You can change the price per episode, or for a whole series at once.
  • Previews in Studio are free. On the public watch page, locked episodes cost coins for you too.
  • Give viewers enough free episodes to care, then lock right after a strong cliffhanger.

How earnings work

earnings = coins spent × $0.007692 × 70%
Episode priceYou earn per unlockUnlocks to reach $50.00
25 coins$0.135372
50 coins$0.269186
100 coins$0.53893
200 coins$1.07747

The coin value and your share are saved with each unlock, so a future change only affects new unlocks. Amounts in Studio are estimates until a payout is approved.

Reports

Viewers report a series or episode with the Report button. We review reports and either act on them or dismiss them.

ReasonCovers
Harm to a childAnything sexualizing or endangering a child.
Sexual contentPornographic or explicit content.
Violence or dangerous actsReal or glorified violence, or dangerous acts people could copy.
Hate speechAttacks on people because of who they are.
Harassment or bullyingTargeting a specific person.
Stolen or copied workUse of someone’s work. Owners should also send a takedown request.
Spam or misleadingMisleading, duplicated or manipulative content.
Something elseAnything else that breaks these rules.

Takedowns

If someone claims your series uses their work

  1. The owner or their representative sends a signed takedown request.
  2. We review it. If it’s valid, we take the content down.
  3. We may tell you what was claimed and share the request with you, so you can respond.
  4. The reason appears on the series or episode page in Studio.
  5. If you have the rights, open a Support ticket with your proof, such as licences or written permission.

While content is taken down

  • Nobody but you can watch it, including viewers who already bought it.
  • You can’t make it public or edit its publishing state.
  • Related earnings may be adjusted or withheld.

If someone copies your work

Send a takedown request with a link to the copy and to your original. Only claim work you own or represent, because false claims can have legal consequences.

Penalties and appeals

We look at how serious the breach is, whether it was a mistake, and your history. This table is a guide, and we can go further if a case calls for it.

SeverityExamplesUsual result
CriticalChild sexual content, sexual deepfakes of real peopleImmediate removal, account closed, earnings withheld, reported where the law requires. No appeal restores the content.
HighPornography, deceptive deepfakes, fraud, faking views or unlocksRemoval, with features limited or the account closed. Related earnings withheld.
MediumInfringement, unlicensed likeness, hate, harassmentContent removed. Repeat cases lead to account closure.
LowMisleading thumbnails, wrong genres, duplicatesContent removed or a request to fix it.

Strikes

  • We can give your account a strike when you break these rules, usually along with removing the content.
  • You’ll get a message in Support with the reason, and the strike is listed there under Account standing.
  • Strikes don’t expire on their own. We remove one if your appeal succeeds.
  • Three active strikes can lead to your account being limited or closed. Critical breaches don’t need three.

Messages from us

We may start a Support ticket with you about your account or content. Support shows a count when you have unread messages, and you can reply in the ticket. Check it regularly, because we don’t currently send these by email.

Appeals: where we can, we’ll tell you why we acted. If you think we got it wrong, open a ticket in Support and include any proof you have.
